Ok so this is just a quick guide for use who are just discovering Rom Hacks !
(WINDOWS USERS ONLY!)SORRY...

Generally these files are downloaded in " IPSorXPS " File Types & Are NOTHING MORE than what the Author of the HACK has completed for release & DO NOT RUN simply by adding them to your ROM Files as Per usual !

For the most up to date Software's to patch your hacks go to
http://www.zophar.net/utilities/patchutil.html

But to get ya started quickly - I Like the classic IPS, It is used mainly to apply patches to ROMs. Although, IPS-win, is for Windows. It does the same thing, but gives you a quick GUI so you can patch, and be on your way. Check it out. Version 3.0 is under development.(08/12/2001) IPSWIN 2.0

Extract it to somewhere you will find it easy, Because you will need to also ad the Hack Patch & The Original Rom File of the Hacked Rom to the same folder (FOR EASE OF USE !).

Ok now for your first time I have selected a great HACK for you to complete & Play "Emulated of course".

-Run IPSWin,
-In the "File To Patch" Field Select the Original Rom Image that you Just renamed to that of the Hacked File Name !
-In the " IPS Patch To Use" Field Select the "HACKED" IPS File.

Make sure that all options are Unchecked! & Click The "Patch!" Button !

You have just created a working Hacked Rom Image!
RENAME IT TO:" Super Robot Wars (taisen) 3.smc " Very Important !
Remember when you rename the newly created Hacked Rom you MUST ALSO CHANGE THE FILE TYPE TO ( SMC ) Or your Emulator May Not Run It!

So Simply ad the Newly created Hacked Rom to your SNES ROMS Folder & Run it in your Favorite Emulator!

Okay, got it?

Now, I've got to explain this expansion thing. When someone hacks a game,
They usually just edit what is existing, Right ?Well, sometimes their hack is SO DAMN AWESOME
They need more space than the original game actually had.
At this point, they need to EXPAND the ROM's size to stuff more crap in.
That's all Expansion is.
How do you tell if you have to expand your ROM? There are several signs:

A. You already applied the patch and the ROM is garbagy/doesn't work.
B. While reading about a hack, it tells you it requires expansion.
C. An EB ROM is normally 3MB, so look for anything above that.

You've probably figured it out by now, and even if you haven't you can keep in mind that expanding A ROM never hurt anybody, while NOT expanding a ROM has probably killed several goats! LOL

Game Formats, and how to install them to your NOKIA N-Gage & N-Gage QD.

Most Games are presented in two formats!

1. System folder
2. *.blz

1.First type of games is very easy to install.
Just copy System folder from game folder (e.g. Ashen/System), to your MMC root. After you unplug USB cable, game icon will appear on the phone menu.

2.For this type of installation you will need Blizzard Game Installer (included in pack).
First, install BLZ Installer (copy Blizzard_Game_Installer.si

s to your MMC root, then install it from App. Manager).

Super Famicom (Satellaview "BS" Roms)

The Satellaview was a satellite modem add-on for Nintendo's Super Famicom system in Japan. It retailed for ¥14,000.

The name "Satellaview" is assumed to be a blend of satellite and view. However the consoles full name is seldom used; the official abbreviation seen everywhere is BS-X; BS stands for Broadcast Satellaview, and X is literally "unknown" or "nameless".

It seems that at some point in time someone on the Internet started calling it the "Bandai" Satellaview, and most websites now refer to it as this, but there is no trace of any Bandai logo or name in any known documentation or indeed in the BIOS over-world interface itself.

The BS-X titles fell into several categories:

* exclusive releases, new entries in established series available only on the BS-X; they are still exclusive, as none has been re-released as of yet.
* re-releases, exact replicas of the cartridge data of normal Super Famicom games, except in a format for broadcast over the satellite
* remakes of previous Famicom games, often hugely enhanced, as in the cases of BS Zelda and BS Mario ExciteBike
* remixed Super Famicom titles were occasionally released, as in the case of BS The Legend of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets
* original creations; there were a handful of BS-X games that were not part of any established series.

No matter what the game was, it was released in weekly or sometimes daily installments, usually with a total of four parts. Some games went on to have multiple stages beyond the scope of the original game, such as BS Zelda "-Map2-" (the only known name), which included nine entirely new dungeons beyond the nine already featured in the first BS Zelda broadcast. However the player data could not be transferred onto the new maps, and, just like The Legend of Zelda's "Second Quest", the player had to start over.

* Satellaview adapter, attached to the bottom of Super Famicom and plugged into the (previously unused) expansion port
* L-shaped bracket; this supplied power to the Satellaview via the Super Famicom
* Application cartridge "BS-X : Soreha namae o nusumareta machi no monogatari" (translates as The Story of The Town Whose Name Has Been Stolen)

This application was like a game in itself. The player entered his or her name and chose his or her gender, then moved his or her player character around the town. Each house or shop in the town was a direct link to a particular game, which would load and be ready for play if the player chose to enter that building.

The deluxe system contains all the above, plus:

* 8-Megabit Memory Pak - (downloaded games are saved on this memory cart if you put it in)

The BS-X base unit contained some memory of its own, but not much (about 512 kB) so for larger games, or (it is to be assumed) for multiple games to be saved at the same time, the player needed to purchase this Memory Pak, otherwise previous data would have to be erased.

The BS-X was developed and released by Nintendo, and St. GIGA was responsible for the file servers and the maintenance side of things after each game had been added.

Looking for those hard to find SUPER NINTENDO / SUPER FAMICOM "BS" ROMS ?

Satellaview (BS-X)
The Satellaview was not really a console, but was an interesting add-on for the Super Famicom. It was licensed by Nintendo , marketed by Bandai, and was released in Japan in 1995. It cost 14,000 yen (about $150), and a subscription fee had to be paid monthly to use the service. The unit sat under the Super Famicom, and was the only device to utilize the port found underneath the console. It connected to a satellite channel called St. GIGA, and allowed subscribers to download games, demos, news, interviews, and whatever else Nintendo felt like offering. There were no costs beyond the price of the device itself and subscription; all downloads were free. The system focused more on BS exclusive games rather than just demos of existing titles. The games could be saved for use later, and the games could only be downloaded between 4PM and 7 PM. The small time window was because St. GIGA was also used to broadcast normal TV programming.The base unit contained a 1 megabit ROM chip which contained the system's operating system, 256k of flash memory to store downloaded games on, and 512k of RAM to add to the Super Famicom's capabilities (this may or may not have also been necessary to run the OS and it's various functions). If the 256k of flash memory wasn't enough, you could also buy Game Boy sized carts containing 1 megabit of flash memory that fit into a Super Game Boy style cartridge, called the BS-X Special Broadcast Cassette (which retailed for around $30). The Satellaview broadcasted from 23rd April 1995 to June 30th 2000. It continued receiving new games up until March 1999. The first game on the system was a graphical update of Zelda no Densetsu (aka. The Legend of Zelda).

Called "Super Mario Brothers Special", the game ran on the obscure Japanese PC-8001 computer, and was created in 1986 by veteran developers Hudson Soft. Looking and sounding very much like the arcade/NES original, SMB Special has two major differences to its parent.

Firstly, it contains a complete new set of levels, different from both the first game and the Japan-only "Super Mario Bros 2" which later appeared on the SNES Mario Allstars compilation. And secondly, rather than having a scrolling display in the manner of the other Mario games, SMBS features a flick-screen format which changes the gameplay significantly. (For example, a kicked Koopa shell will now rebound off the edge of the screen and come back at you whether there's an obstacle there or not.)

Despite these changes, and the primitive hardware the game was running on, SMB Special is an entertaining game, significantly harder than the original and a challenge even in comparison to the Japanese SMB2. But hey, don't take my word for it.

PC-8001 Computer Emulator and smbspecial Rom.zip From South Central Emulation contains everything you need to play SMB Special - the PC88Win emulator, the system ROMs, and the disk image itself. Simply unzip the file contents to a folder, load up the disk in drive 1, select "N Mode" from the "Options" menu and then reset the emulator. The game should auto-run from there. (Controls are numeric pad to move, Z and X the fire buttons. You can use normal cursor keys by switchng Num Lock off.) Enjoy, before Nintendo's lawyers have us all killed.
